History teaches us so much, and it is so accessible to everyone that only those who refuse to look are left blind \u2014 almost certainly a deliberate blindness, but undoubtedly a guilty one.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

This reflection leads me to share how our way of life has transformed so profoundly that it is necessary to look back to understand the result of this transformation.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

First fact:<\/span> \u201cAround 3.7 million years ago, the first hominid creatures appeared, walking on two feet\u201d \u2014 a fact that might seem insignificant today.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Yet, the problems that plague us now \u2014 <\/span>cardiovascular diseases, obesity, muscle and bone issues, mental health disorders, diabetes<\/span> \u2014 all lead to increased premature mortality and a significant strain on resources due to medical care costs and lost productivity. These are the <\/span>results<\/span>, but <\/span>not the root of the problem<\/span>. The true <\/span>scourge<\/span> we face is <\/span>sedentary living<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Second fact:<\/span> \u201cIt is accepted that the design of the human body (encoded in its genes) is the result of millions of years of biological evolution.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\"\"<\/a>Looking at our current reality and tracing it back, we see that the <\/span>evolutionary process<\/span> has, for most of its timeline, shaped us into a <\/span>complete and integrated human being<\/span> through a <\/span>nomadic lifestyle<\/span> \u2014 one that forced us to develop and adapt to our environment.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

From a historical perspective, <\/span>Homo sapiens<\/span> emerged around <\/span>300,000 years ago<\/span>, and a crucial <\/span>cognitive revolution<\/span> took place <\/span>70,000 years ago<\/span>. It was only <\/span>10,000 years ago<\/span> that several human groups discovered ways to produce food, pushing them to <\/span>settle in fixed locations<\/span> and abandon their <\/span>nomadic way of life<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Third fact:<\/span> \u201cThis timeline shows that humans spent <\/span>290,000 years wandering<\/span> throughout their evolutionary history, while the shift to a <\/span>sedentary lifestyle<\/span> happened just <\/span>10,000 years ago<\/span>, when they became farmers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Conclusion:<\/span> The <\/span>evolution and improvement of human beings<\/span> have always stemmed from our ability to <\/span>adapt to our environment<\/span> \u2014 an adaptation now shaped by our <\/span>knowledge and technological development<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Our way of life has become one of the <\/span>greatest threats<\/span> to our own existence.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The transformation from a <\/span>sedentary lifestyle<\/span> to one <\/span>adapted to a cutting-edge technological environment<\/span> is the <\/span>main challenge<\/span> facing human evolution today.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
